The rack mountable model 804B video test generator is optimized for testing modern HDMI 2.0 flat panel TVs. The 804B video test generator supports testing of HDMI 4K x 2K resolutions up to pixel rates of 600 MHz. This enables testing ultra HD TVs with 4K resolutions at 50/60Hz with either 4:2:0 or 4:4:4 pixel encoding. The 804B also supports testing with HDMI 2.0 21:9 format resolutions up to 600 MHz.

The 804B video generator is equipped with all the standard video timings and test patterns—including support for 3D—necessary for testing HDTVs. The 804B instrument supports functional protocol tests such as EDID and HDCP. You can verify the EDID of HDMI sinks including new data elements related to HDMI 2.0. Both HDCP 1.4 and HDCP 2.2/2.3 verification tests are supported as well.

The instrument features four (4) HDMI outputs—all active simultaneously—for testing HDTVs with multiple HDMI inputs. This eliminates the need for splitters often required for testing each HDMI input on an HDTV. The 804B video generator can output component analog and composite analog video as well as HDMI. Component (RGB) output through the VGA interface operates up to 162 MHz; component YPbPr output through the BNC connectors operates up to 75 MHz.

The 804B video generator tests compressed and uncompressed HDMI audio formats using a variety of audio test signals. An HDTV’s analog audio inputs can also be tested using the 804B’s programmable analog audio outputs.

Manufacturing engineers can choose to operate the 804B instrument in a few different ways. The instrument can be controlled through the user friendly touch screen interface which also provides status during testing. For control by an automated test system, the 804B can be operated through an extensive command set. The 804B instrument supports the same commands that production facilities have become familiar with on the other 804 series instruments as well as the early Quantum Data families of video test generators such as the 802 and 881 series instruments. Alternatively, an optional programmable keypad can be attached to the USB Port or RS-232 port for keypad control.

The 804B video generator provides the necessary features and functions for testing HDTVs on a production and are offered an attractive price. Contact your Quantum Data distributor or representative for ordering and pricing information.
