The quantumdata M21 is equipped with HDMI and DisplayPort interfaces. For HDMI there is both a Tx and Rx port for Video Generation and Video Analysis. For DisplayPort there are Rx ports; one full sized DP connector and another for USB-C for DP alt mode. There is a second DP full sized connector for passive monitoring of the DisplayPort Aux Channel.

The M21 provides at-a-glance status bar on the bottom of the large touch screen. The Status Bar provides basic information about the incoming HDMI or DisplayPort stream. The M21 can run for a limited time on batter power; about one hour on a four hour charge.

The M21 can also be optioned with the Auxiliary Channel Analyzer (ACA) utility for monitoring the auxiliary channels of HDMI, HDBaseT or DisplayPort. For HDMI or HDBaseT, you can monitor the DDC (HDCP and EDID) transactions and hot plug events. You can monitor the HDMI/HDBaseT DDC either while emulating an HDMI or HDBaseT source and/or sink or passively monitoring the HDMI DDC hot plug events and CEC messages between an HDMI source and sink. The ACA option also enables you to monitor the DisplayPort Aux Channel, including EDID, HDCP exchanges and the link training transactions. You can monitor the DisplayPort Aux Channel either while emulating a DisplayPort source or display or you can monitoring passively between a DisplayPort source and display.

The M21's portability makes it ideal for your bench. A color touch display makes the M21 easy and convenient to use and when testing a source device you can view the incoming video image and metadata on the built-in LCD.

The following is list of some of key the M21 standard features and benefits. Please refer to the M21 Data Sheet for a list of all features.

HDMI Video Analysis. Analyze incoming HDMI TMDS and FRL video analyzer operating up to 48G (12G / lane) up to 4 lanes.

DisplayPort Analysis. DisplayPort HBR and UHBR line rates and line coding with the UHBR operating up to 13.5Gb/s per lane (54G aggregate).

Video Timing Analysis. Video analysis enables viewing the incoming video frames and the status bar shows the video timing parameters and essential video parameters.

Protocol Metadata. View the incoming HDMI or DisplayPort metadata on the main links.

Auxiliary Channel Analyzer (ACA). The ACA option enables real time viewing of the HDMI DDC channel or the DisplayPort Aux Channel. You can view the EDID exchange, HDMI SCDC register reads and writes, DisplayPort DPCD reads and writes, HDMI or DisplayPort link training transactions, DisplayPort Alt Mode negotiations using the PD protocol, monitor the HDCP authentication transactions and more.

Passive ACA. Passively monitor the HDMI DDC channel or the DisplayPort Aux Channel between a source and a sink device.

Audio Analysis. Monitor the incoming LPCM incoming audio stream and view the incoming audio metadata either on the forward HDMI interface or the eARC Rx.

Video Generation. Generate outgoing HDMI TMDS and FRL video streams operating up to 48G (12G / lane) up to 4 lanes. Select a variety of test patterns, configure the colorimetry settings, bit depth etc.

Audio Generation. Send audio patterns, tones & noise through HDMI Tx port or the HDMI Rx port when emulating an eARC Tx. Program LPCM audio parameters such as sampling rate, bit depth and channels. Use a variety of audio formats including LPCM, Dolby, DTS and high bit rate audio formats such as Dolby TrueHD and DTS Master Audio.

Verify an HDMI or DisplayPort source’s response to an EDID. Emulate the EDID of any HDMI or DisplayPort sink device to verify that a source device responds properly to it. Store and retrieve multiple EDIDs for use in testing.

Verify video timing. Verify the timing of a digital video source device. Compare received timing against a known-good timing standard format.

Audio analyzer for sources. Emulate a known-good HDMI or DisplayPort sink device to analyze digital audio content from a digital video/audio source device. Monitor the incoming LPCM audio and view the digital audio metadata.

Command Line Control. Use the same command set as the 980 or 780 series to run automated tests on your HDMI source and sink devices or repeater devices.
